Swearing in Ceremony – March
SMART Local 55 is excited to announce that over the last few weeks, we celebrated the graduation of new classes of Youth 2 Youth apprentices in Spokane and Boise who are ready to carry the torch for sheet metal workers as future union journeymen.
Youth 2 Youth is a class for our third-year apprentices that encompasses labor history, SMART Local 55 history, and gives a general overview of the uphill battle union members face to continue to secure our wages, benefits, and working conditions for future generations. This is a significant achievement that marks the beginning of a new journey for these workers. As these apprentice’s get closer to graduation, they are now ready to recognize the challenges union workers face, and the forces that look to strip our way of life away. They will also be joining a proud tradition of union journeypersons who have dedicated their lives to this craft and to building stronger communities.
We congratulate these graduates and wish them all the best as they embark on the rest of their journey. We also thank the trainers, and mentors who have invested their time and energy in helping these apprentices succeed. With their guidance and support, we are confident that these future journeymen will continue to excel and make significant contributions to the sheet metal industry.
