The Sheet Metal Workers’ Local #55, represents skilled craftpersons in Washington State, Idaho, and Eastern Oregon. Sheet Metal Workers perform architectural sheet metal work, fabrication, installation, and service of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, rail work and more.

  • The Washington State paid sick leave law was approved by Washington State voters in 2016. Initiative 1433 amended Chapter 49.46 RCW, the Minimum Wage Act, and went into effect on January 1, 2018. The impacts of the Paid Sick Leave law (RCW 49.46.200 to .210), along with L&l's impleroenting regulations (WAC 296-128-600 to -760) interpreting the new statutory sections of the Minimum Wage Act, supersede any conflicting terms in the CBA between SMART #55 and Inland NW SMACNA/lndependent Contractors.

  • The state of Washington is one of the few states in the nation that still offers a paper check option for unemployment insurance benefits. The U.S. Treasury Department has required people to receive most federal benefits by direct deposit or prepaid debit card since 2013. ESD plans to eliminate the option to request a paper check for benefit payments effective Aug. 1, 2018.
