2nd Harvest Warehouse – Food Sort
On June 9, the 2nd Harvest warehouse in Pasco hosted a Local 55 JATC food sort. Andrew Cook, our Tri-Cities JATC Instructor said ”The event went very well, we sorted roughly 8 tons of food for distribution to food banks, etc. When we come together to better the lives of the people in need in our community, it makes our surrounding areas stronger, and it enforces the notion that Union values emulate family values by lifting up the less fortunate among us. The apprentices and staff did an excellent job representing our sheet metal trade and Local 55. We are definitely looking forward to working with this agency again.”
2nd Harvest works to fight hunger and feed hope and brings community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education, and partnerships. 2nd Harvest believes that everyone has the right to health, and nutritious food is a key ingredient in the recipe for a healthy life. They envision a world in which every person – regardless of age, race, ability, income, or status has access to the food they need to live a life full of the activities and people they love. That’s why Second Harvest works hard to get food onto the tables of families, kids, and seniors facing hunger in our community.
